Circle of Viewpoints

I'm thinking about my research on Rod Laver's impact to Australia and tennis as a whole from the point of view of Rod Laver.

Rod Laver's POV:

I think that I've seen tennis improve and progress a long way throughout the years. I find that I'm extremely lucky to have the opportunity to see it. I'm honoured and proud to have played a huge part in tennis as a sport and how I have gotten the respect I wanted in return. I love to help people and see them get better. I find that tennis is a sport that has brought us all together and I still love watching other players play their matches. I mean earlier this year I said that if Novak Djokovic became a Calendar Grand Slam champion I'd be very happy to shake his hand.

One of the proudest moments in my life was achieving that second Calendar Year Grand Slam. I'm sure it played a huge part in tennis as in it inspired other fellow tennis players to aim high. I know that Bjorn Borg, one of my later opponents, looked up to me and I find that really intriguing because me accomplishing something can lead to someone else trying to be like me. And that's really what this world is for. To set the standards and try to beat them. That's how I think we have progressed this far today.

I'm thinking about my research on Rod Laver's impact to Australia and tennis as a whole from the point of view of Bjorn Borg.

Bjorn Borg's POV:

To me, Rod Laver has definitely impacted Australia and the world for tennis. I have always looked up to him, even when I became a professional myself. He was my idol when I started to play. I have always believed in what Rod has said and I have utilized his words in my tennis. I'm sure he has helped many other people besides me and it will always be that way. I know that he has helped Australia a lot because of his achievements. I know that there has been the centre court in Melbourne named after him. I find this highly significant to his impact to the Australia because it just shows them how great of a person he is and it can inspire them to do the same. I know Rod has always encouraged us to become better people and so that's what I have tried to do. I just love following in Rod's footsteps because he is a role model and if I'm going to manifest the same behavior I have to learn from him. And that's how many people think of him and that's how he has a huge impact on society.

I'm thinking about my research on Rod Laver's impact to Australia and tennis as a whole from the point of view of Lleyton Hewitt.

Lleyton Hewitt's POV:

Rod Laver and I are both Australians. But our differences are in our achievements. I wish I could be as lucky as him. He has achieved so much more than me. I want to be like him. I'm still young so I hope that when I'm his age, I could be as famous as him. To me, he has also impacted Australia a lot because I know that many young Australian's want to be like him, including me. I want to follow in his footsteps and become a successful tennis player that has gained worldwide fame. He is also a very nice and generous man because he also contributed to charity for health in South Africa. I know that he has greatly impacted the world because of his generosity, personality, and inspiration. If I was to say the greatest player ever I would never not say Rod Laver.

I'm thinking about my research on Rod Laver's impact to Australia and tennis as a whole from the point of view of myself, a young aspiring tennis player.

My POV:

In my eyes, Rod Laver is a truly magnificent tennis player and is very talented. He has definitely left a huge mark in Australian history and will always be notable. He has inspired the up-and-coming youngsters to improve their game in order to achieve what they can. I'm a young aspiring tennis player that loves to have a challenge. I have been trying to accomplish my goals for tennis as well and Rod has had a massive impact on how I take the steps forward to achieve them.

He has always been very passionate for the sport and he never at any point decided it was lame or boring. He feels honoured to be famous because of his tennis and I really like his humble personality. I can learn that not everything can be done first try. I like to look at some of his quotes for tennis so that I can keep them in mind when I'm playing and if anything it has given me the ability to concentrate during a match more often than I used to. He has helped me very much in my mental strength during my tennis matches and it has greatly assisted my ability to 'bounce back'.
